Double M Rodeo - NY Rodeo at it's Best!
One thing I’m really looking forward to on Friday and Saturday May 18-19 is that barbecue made by Dave Borst of North Woods barbecue. I’ve mentioned before that Dave is my barbecue better despite my years of working on my craft so you have got to try his brisket that has been perfectly cooked for [...]
Here’s one of my favorites from the 2011 season of the Double M Rodeo In Malta, NY. Again there isn’t much explanation needed. Young Cowgirl, American flag, Double M Rodeo; that’s plenty. If you visiting Saratoga this summer and are looking for something to do on a Friday or Saturday night come on over and [...]
This photo needs no explanation beyond the fact that the Double M Rodeo does the National Anthem right. That’s Wayne and Cindy’s beautiful daughter holding the stars and stripes.
Saturday and Sunday – May 18th and 20th aren’t just a great time to score some great deals of cowboy boot and other western stuff at the Double M; We’ve got two days straight of NBHA Barrel Racing! Normally I talk about how incredibly fast the riders turn the barrels but here’s something a little [...]

How would you like to be the guy who has to catch this wild bronc?! Our pickup men do this every night at the Double M Rodeo. You’ve got to love those red Dodge Pickup Truck themed chaps.
Here’s a barrel racer rushing back to the finish line after turning the three barrels at the Double M Rodeo. I’ve been trying to perfect this shot as the racer gallops full speed in front of the crowd but lack of light and crazy high-speed keep it a challenge!
Here’s NY Rodeo EMT Jim Huntsinger deep in prayer along with a few of the other cowboys. I’ll say it again; we are so lucky to have this guy when folks get hurt. I don’t know how we’d get along without Jim.
Somewhere along the summer I started doing less photo taking during the prayer and more praying so by the end of the season I don’t think I have any prayer photos. Here’s a prayer photo from before all of that praying started rubbing off on me. I think this photo is one of my favorites [...]
Continuing my series for the week of people praying at the rodeo; here is Adam and Jeff putting in a prayer with the rest of the rodeo before we start. I like seeing these two friends praying better then seeing them fight as I’ve seen them do both.
Well this is a rodeo photography blog so I don’t have to feel bad about not saying too much. Here’s a little cowboy with his hat off in prayer continuing my series of photos showing people praying at the rodeo.
So it looks like this week I’m showing photos of people praying at the Double M Rodeo here in upstate New York State. This photo was taken at one of our two nights at the Saratoga County Fair.
There’s a lot of praying done around the rodeo. With all the risks the cowboys and cowgirls are taking a little help from up above is more than welcome. Of course there’s a prayer that the entire rodeo participates in at the opening of the night but I see so many guys and gals putting [...]
Here is Lane Barber; this guy put on one heck of a ride! This was taken July 22nd at the Saratoga County Fair. We had a whole lot of great bronc riding that night to treat the crowds at the fair with.
I was talking with a friend yesterday and she pointed out to me that cowboys look at this Jeremy Wilson story with a shrug. “It’s just something that happened”; she pointed out to me. That attitude about the amazing things done at the rodeo is one of the most baffling and remarkable qualities of the [...]
Well you’ve seen Jeremy ride the Bronco out into the ring and eventually collide with the unforgiving metal fence. Here’s the second half of those terrifying moments that seemed like hours. I was sure that just a few weeks into my first year at the rodeo that I had witnessed a cowboy pay the ultimate [...]
Coming into the rodeo this year with absolutely no experience gave me a very different experience than your average rodeo fan. It quickly became apparent how completely unaware the rodeo folks are that they are so exceptional. My second week into photographing at the Double M Rodeo I was fully immersed into just how different [...]
Like I said I normally shy away from photographing folks getting injured or suffering after they are injured but here is a rare shot of or EMT Jim Huntsinger in action. As you can see when a rider is hurt every other rider, cowboy and hand rushes in to try to help. It doesn’t matter [...]
I can’t tell you how much I respect this guy and how lucky the Double M Rodeo is to have this EMT. I was really surprised to find out Jim is a New York City Boy! Raised in Brooklyn Jim served as a fireman for the FDNY. Jim just has a way that you know [...]
You have to have a lot of guts to get on these crazy horses!
